the funny thing about hair

is that nobody seems to be satisfied with their own.

It's true, ya'll. For example, I have a constant struggle with my hair.

It's really a love/hate relationship. {please note the emphasis on hate}

Don't get me wrong, I really like my naturally curly locks.

But ~~sometimes~~ most of the time it has a life of it's own, so it's not quite how I want it.

I do get a ton of compliments on it though and I really appreciate that.

What I have noticed is that people want the opposite of their hair: those with curly want it straight. {and vice versa}

The cool thing about hair: its versatility.

Straightening my hair has made me realize that...

A. I should straighten it more.

B. I have some major roots that need some TLC.

Onto bigger and better subjects... I haven't blogged in forever. I don't know why. I guess I just got out of the loop. But fear not, because I am baaaaack! {T.I. style}

Here's some good news - in one week I will be done with school for the semester! Everybody yell "YAY!" Just one 5-page paper, one Unit of Instruction project, one Spanish paper, and two exams. Deep breath. I can do this.

wedding bells

I haven't posted in a few days, but I've been soo busy with my brothers wedding. It was so much fun and the bride looked beautiful. The wedding was small, about 35 people were there. It was a cute and simple gathering for friends and a few family members. I'm so glad I got to be a part of it. The ceremony was outside at a golf course. The backdrop was a gorgeous waterfall.

These are just a few pictures that I took. Most of them didn't turn out very well. I love these, though. I can't wait to see the pictures that the photographer took.

Today, we're spending the last part of our vacation in San Antonio relaxing, packing and visiting. I have some homework that I still need to do...oops! Our flight leaves at 7 am tomorrow, so I'm going to have to wake up at 4 in the morning. We'll see how that goes.

I've decided that I'm going to start doing P90X when I get home. It's going to be intennnnnse! I just feel like I've been really lazy and need to start working out. I think Michelle and her running every day has inspired me.

I hope everyone is filling up with delicious food and spending time with loved ones. We're having deep fried turkey, gravy, sweet potatoes, green beans, brussel sprouts, and pumpkin pie {my favorite}. Have a wonderful day and to those shoppers tomorrow: be careful.

Today we went on a safari.

Amazing! The animals were beautiful. My favorite were the zebras. I'm jealous that they always look stylish.

It's 85 degrees in San Antonio today, folks. It's okay to be a little jealous. I forgot how draining the heat is though. I took a nap on the way home from the safari and now we're relaxing and making preparations for Thanksgiving tomorrow. It's going to be a good meal.

Later Michelle, my mom and I are going to the mall to do a little shopping. This could get dangerous.

My Thanksgiving break has officially begun! I'm ready to have a few days off and spend time with my family.

I just downloaded a new camera app on my phone. I love the effects. Here's a peek at my favorites.

Remember how I said it was really warm yesterday? Yeah, well today it's about 30 degrees and fa-reeeezing!

I'm leaving at 2 for Detroit. I can't wait. I've got everything packed and ready to go. I'm just trying to keep myself occupied right now. Somehow homework just doesn't seem appealing though. I guess I'll just pay around on the internet until I can leave :)

rain, rain go away

If it wasn't raining today, I could be sitting outside enjoying the 60 degree weather! It's so weird to be experiencing weather this nice in Michigan on November 22. We probably won't even have snow for Thanksgiving.

{not that I would know since I'm going to be in TEXAS!}

I do wish it was snowing right now. Yes, I did just say that I would prefer snow. But, hear me out. Snow is beautiful and I would prefer to see a blanket of snow covering the ground right now rather than muddy puddles and worms.

On a positive note, I'm excited because today is the first day of my week off of work. Sadly, I left my book there last night, so I still have to stop in to pick it up. Oh well. Today I'm going to get some homework done so I don't have to worry about it while I'm gone. Then I'm going to get more packing done. Tonight Chris and I are making burgers. I haven't had one in a long time, so this should be an awesome dinner.

I can't wait to see this tomorrow:

until I can teach some amazing, quirky, funny, talented, caring, intelligent, eager children like these. I was lucky enough to be able to teach these 2nd graders French for ten weeks during my senior year of high school.

It was so much fun and I can't wait until I can have a class of my own :)

It was a pretty busy weekend for me, so I'm excited for this week to start. I didn't even have enough time to post yesterday.

Friday: classes until 12, work 2 to 10 p.m.

Saturday: work 10 to 6:30 p.m., drove over to East Lansing with my boyfriend to have dinner at his sisters apartment with his mom, sister, her boyfriend and her roommate. We stayed with them until midnight and it flew by way too fast. My boyfriends mom shared so many fun stories of things that have been happening at their eventful house. It made me really miss home.

Sunday: work 12 to 7 p.m., then I had to write an essay on Hamlet's problems

Now, it's almost 10 p.m. and I'm already in bed and ready to fall asleep. Weekends shouldn't be this exhausting!

Alright, peeps. I have a new obsession with these delicious orange balls of juiciness. That's right. Now get your mind out of the gutter. I'm talking about these little guys...

Clementines!

They are so, sooo good. I'm trying to make them last as long as I can since they cost so much. I could eat 10 in a row, I'm pretty sure.

Anyways, yesterday was an awesome day. I took my Spanish exam which I think I did pretty well on {and when I say pretty well I mean better than the failing grade I got on my last one}. Then my 10 am class was cancelled, so I was able to come home and get my Spanish homework done. After that I worked on some other homework due after break. The best part of the whole day --- when I called in to work to see if they needed me and they didn't!

3 days off in a row. WOO!

Then I lounged the rest of the afternoon while doing my homework. I felt pretty good that I was able to cross two things off my list :)

Later on, the boyfriend came over and we watched Disturbia, ate some popcorn, drank tea {well, I did anyways}, and cuddled on my couch while burning some pumpkin candles. It was awesome! I love him.

Because I had some awesome days off, I don't even care that I have to work today. Plus, it's payday! BAM.

It's time for the truth to come out...

Spanish 101 is hard!

Like way harder than I expected it to be! It is by far my hardest class. Harder than my 200 and 300 level classes. And it's soooo time demanding. Maybe it's my professor, maybe it's my inability to grasp foreign languages, maybe it's my lack of time to put into the class. But I cannot wait to be done with it.

This is how Spanish makes me feel!

On the plus side, I'm sitting here happily drinking coconut macaroon coffee while watching the Today show (which I NEVER get to see because I have morning classes).

Also, yesterday I made boyfriend a huge pan of lasagna. Actually...I made it for both of us to eat for dinner, but I made it extra large so he could keep all of the leftovers. {Last time I made lasagna I accidently left it at his apartment and he inhaled the whole thing in two days!} Well, after dinner yesterday he informed me that he didn't want any lasagna because he already has too much food. Gahhhhh! I have to keep the darn thing! Oh well, at least I won't have to cook for the rest of the week.

Here I am, sitting in the library minding my own business when... BAM! The loudest thunder EVER scared the poo out of me. I'm not kidding here, folks, this thing was loud.

Okay... you caught me... I might be exaggerating a little bit. But I wasn't expecting this to happen, so it's justified that I jumped out of my seat half an inch, right? Right.

I would much rather have snow right now than rain. I know, it's shocking, but at least snow is beautiful! I guess I'm stuck with rain until tomorrow at least...EEK! I can't want to slide all over campus...NOT!

I found a couple of good recipes online, like this one riiiiiiight here. It looks delicious and simple! I think I'm going to try it out for dinner tonight.

This is my first time EVER blogging! I'm really excited to start it out. I've been looking at them online for a while and I decided it was time to branch out and start my own.

Basically, I plan on using this as a fun way of communicating my thoughts :)

Here are five things that make me happy today:

1. Not having to work tonight! Or tomorrow night! Its like a fun little weekend off for me, except it's actually Tuesday and I still have to go to school.

2. The fact that one pot of soup can feed me for weeks! I just took some homemade chili out of the freezer and ate it for dinner yesterday and lunch today. I love soup during this time of year.

3. The excitement of knowing that in exactly one week I will be flying to San Antonio with my family to stay with my brother for a week for his wedding :) I can't wait!

4. The new jacket that I bought from work yesterday and came out to $31! It is going to be a Christmas present from my parents - this means I have to surrender it until December 25th, but I'm okay with that.

5. My black converses that I pulled out of the back of my closet to wear today. I forgot how incredibly comfortable and awesome these babies are! It's a nostalgic flashback to my high school days when I wore them almost every day.
